Saint-Étienne aims at Paul Joly to fill the imminent departure of Yvann Mason

AS Saint-Étienne is actively seeking reinforcements for its right corridor, facing the imminent departure of Yvann Mason. The club explores several tracks, and one of the names that comes back with insistence is Paul Joly, currently posted at AJ Auxerre. This 25-year-old right side, whose contract runs until 2027, would not be indifferent to a new challenge and would like to have more time to play. Its modern profile, which can also evolve in a three-way defence, is particularly appreciated by the Stéphanois leadership.

The situation of Mason is now clearly defined: his departure is envisaged in the coming weeks. To fill this gap, ASSE intensified its research and contacted Paul Joly, who could be motivated by the prospect of a more important role and a strong sports project. Although he is not an indisputable holder in Auxerre, Joly is aware of his value and might consider a transfer this summer. Discussions between the two clubs are expected to accelerate in the coming weeks, pending an agreement.

However, Paul Joly is not the only profile studied by AS Saint-Étienne to strengthen its right corridor. Other names have been mentioned, such as ThiBauut Vaargas (Laval) and Tony Strata (Ajaccio), although they seem to favour other opportunities. Since the transfer market is still relatively quiet at this post, the last few weeks could be crucial for the Stéphanois club. The recruitment cell continues to increase contacts in order to secure a reinforcement for the coming season.
