OL strengthens and targets Buonanotte for its midfielder

Olympique Lyonnais officially launched its summer mercato with the arrival of Afonso Moreira, his first recruit, from Lisbon Sporting. The club continues its strategy of developing young talent, as evidenced by the composition of the band aligned in the second game of preparation against the RWDM Brussels. This composition gave a game opportunity to several young players such as Yacine Chaib, Khalis Merah and Tiago Gonçalves, supervised by more experienced players such as Corentin Tolisso and Moussa Niakhaté. OL are actively looking for an offensive midfielder to make up for the recent departures of Rayan Cherki and Thiago Almada, and are interested in Brighton player Facundo Buonanotte, although Borussia Dortmund is also in the race.

OL’s interest in Facundo Buonanotte, an Argentine offensive medium of 20 years, is confirmed by several sources, with an estimated cost of 20 million euros. The player, already experienced with over 70 Premier League games and a successful loan to Leicester City, meets the club’s needs after the number ten starts. However, a definitive transfer seems difficult because of its price. At the same time, OL formalized the arrival of Afonso Moreira, who quickly joined the group and already became aware of the club’s rules, including the ban on wearing green.

Apart from the transfers, the Lyonnaise Tarciane participated in Copa America with the Brazilian team, who qualified for the semifinals after a successful group phase. Mohamed El Arouch, former OL player, was present at Décines to attend the friendly game, but had to give up due to a physical problem. The Paulo Fonseca team continues to favour the development of young players while integrating new recruits to strengthen the workforce before the start of the championship.
