RC Lens mercato summer restructuring midfield stakes and tracks

The RC Lens is currently in the process of restructuring its workforce for summer 2025 mercato, with important decisions regarding its field environment. Coach Pierre Sage officially removed from the professional group Salis Abdul Samed and Angelo Fulgini, two players who had experienced a consistent playing time under the direction of Franck Haise. These two players, who have been away for several weeks, now train with the reserve team waiting for a transfer, a priority for the club’s sports leadership. Their departure is aimed at reducing the payroll and releasing resources for new recruits.

At the same time, the future of Hamzat Ojediran, a young midfielder who arrived in the summer of 2024, remains uncertain. Although he showed flashes of talent during his few appearances, he struggled to convince the technical staff, who wished to improve his mastery of the game and his discipline. Faced with this situation, Pierre Sage does not seem to exclude the arrival of a new defensive environment, although this is not the main objective of the Lens club. Research is currently focusing on profiles that can strengthen the field environment.

Among the tracks envisaged, Lucas Gourna-Douath, a player trained at ASSE and currently under contract with RB Salzburg until 2027, stands out. The Lansois club could prefer an arrival in the form of a loan with option of purchase, conditioned by the departures of Salis Abdul Samed and Angelo Fulgini. Salzburg had invested 13 million euros to recruit the young player in 2022, demonstrating his potential. The operation could therefore be of interest to RC Lens, which seeks to optimize its payroll while strengthening its field environment. The development of this case remains to be closely monitored.
