League 2: TV programming reorganized for fans

In the face of persistent pressure from fans, the LFP and beIN Sports have redesigned the Ligue 2 TV programme for the 2025-2026 season. This decision, which was the result of repeated demands from the stands, aims to respond to the criticism of the multiplication of matches on Friday night, which was detrimental to the atmosphere and accessibility for fans on the move. Following a meeting involving LFP, beIN Sports and the National Association of Supporters, several adjustments were agreed, marking a refocusing on the expectations of enthusiasts.

The most significant changes will concern the distribution schedule. From the first day of the championship, Saturday will become a central day for League 2, with three scheduled matches: one at 2 p.m. and two in the evening, in addition to the weekdays and the last two days of the championship. A notable exception will be observed on the first day, when the majority of matches will be played on Saturday, August 9, due to the absence of Ligue 1 matches that weekend. In addition, LFP and beIN Sports are committed to publishing the schedules earlier, starting on day 5, allowing spectators to better organize themselves to attend the games.

This overhaul of programming and communication reflects the LFP’s desire to ease tensions and place supporters at the heart of the football experience. This readjustment of the TV grid is seen as a direct response to criticisms about football becoming increasingly disconnected from the realities of fans. For Ligue 2 clubs, including ASSE, this evolution could have a direct impact on the crowd and atmosphere in the stadiums, thus meeting the constant demand of the ultras: “football is the weekend”.
