The recent attempts to mediate, initiated in early March 2025, have unfortunately not been successful, suggesting an impasse in the relations between the LFP and DAZN. The latter, having taken legal action against the PSL, invokes a breach of contract and a deception as to the quality of service rendered. DAZN therefore seeks financial compensation amounting to EUR 573 million.
In an official release made public, the LFP maintains the legal validity of the current contract and stresses the obligation for DAZN to comply with its contractual commitments. The League’s governing bodies hope to reach an amicable resolution with the broadcaster, despite the urgent financial deadlines set for 1 May and 1 July. This friendly outcome would be all the more crucial in order to avoid an escalation of the conflict and the financial complications it would generate.
Faced with this situation, an alternative solution, initially defended by Joseph Oughourlian, president of RC Lens, emerges: the creation of a dedicated channel, managed by the League itself, ensuring the full distribution of sporting events. This option, excluding Canal+, beIN SPORTS and Amazon, presents itself as a back-up solution, although Arten’s application has not yet been formally submitted.
