Montpellier wins Bastia and ambition podium

The MHSC won an important 2-0 win over SC Bastia on Day 6 of Ligue 2, played at the Mosson Stadium. This victory marks the second success of the season for Montpellier, thanks to two goals scored on kicks by Téji Savanier, who regained his physical fitness. The team of Zoumana Camara was able to capitalize on the mistakes of marking the Bastia defence, especially in the first period, and also took advantage of the kicks stopped to take the advantage. Despite a more dangerous period in the second half of Bastia, the MHSC managed to maintain its lead and secure the result.

The first half saw Montpellier take the ascendant thanks to a corner kick of Téji Savanier, taken over by Christopher Jullien, opening the score at the 10th minute. The MHSC confirmed its 18th minute advantage with a new Savanier corner kick, deviated from the lead by Victor Orakpo and took over in the root end by Alexandre Mendy, scoring his first goal in Ligue 2 since January. Téji Savanier was particularly involved in the offensive actions of his team, delivering decisive passes and threatening the enemy’s own goal.

This victory allowed Montpellier to climb back to 7th place in the standings, just 3 points from the podium. The team ended a three-game series without victory and is preparing to receive Bologna-sur-Mer. For his part, Bastia continues a difficult season and remains blocked at two points. The Corsican team hopes to get its first championship victory in its next match against Rodez AF. Team compositions and replacements made during the match are also detailed.
