Aubameyaang returns to OM for a new sporting challenge

After a brief period in Al-Qadisiya, Saudi Arabia, Pierre-Emérik Aubameyang, the 36-year-old attacker, decided to return to the Olympique de Marseille. This decision, confirmed by The Team, follows a season when the Saudi club wanted to turn to younger players. Although several European clubs, notably in Turkey, Spain and the Gulf, have shown their interest, OM has proved to be the most convincing, thanks to a trusting relationship maintained by the management, in particular Pablo Longoria, with the player and his family.

Aubameyang’s return to Marseilles was announced as a two-season contract, on significantly lower financial terms than his previous visit in 2023, where he had signed a record contract. Al-Qadisiya has also taken over some of the planned premiums, for a total amount exceeding 7 million euros. Despite proposals from Qatari, Emirati and especially Al-Etifaq clubs, the prospect of replaying in the Champions League, the atmosphere of the Vélodrome and Roberto De Zerbi’s sporting project have strongly influenced his choice.

Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi was very enthusiastic about Aubameyang’s return, highlighting his talent, quality of person and value for OM. His return is now imminent, requiring only a formal agreement to formalize this long-awaited comeback. This new recruit reinforces the Marseille attack and demonstrates the club’s willingness to regain its status as a contender for the main objectives in France and Europe.
