Renovation of the Mosson: the city abandons the move

Jean-Pierre Rico, the mayor of Pérols and vice-president of the Métropole de Montpellier, formalized the end of a long debate on the future of the Mosson stadium. Initially, a project envisaged the establishment of the new Montpellier HSC stadium on the Montpellier exhibition centre, located in the territory of Pérols. This proposal had been the subject of prolonged discussions in recent months, raising many questions and debates within the community.

However, during an announcement made this Thursday, Jean-Pierre Rico confirmed the abandonment of this idea of relocation. According to information relayed by SeloNactus.fr, the municipality plans instead to invest 70 million euros in the complete renovation of the Mosson stadium. The main reason for this decision is the vulnerability of the site, which is in a flood zone, and which was the purpose of the relocation project.

This resolution could be welcomed by supporters of Montpellier HSC, who have a deep attachment to the history and uniqueness of the Mosson stadium. By choosing to renovate the existing stadium, the city is committed to preserving a place full of memories and emotions for future generations, while addressing concerns related to the safety and sustainability of the site.
