Polemic and tensions in Lyon after the derby: Tolisso persists and Saint-Etienne in custody
The tension remained palpable at Olympique Lyonnais (OL) after the derby against AS Saint-Etienne, which resulted in a score of 2-1 and a serious controversy. The midfielder, Corentin Tolisso, did not chew his words on the controversial decision of referee François Letexier concerning the red card inflicted on Lucas Stassin.
Following this tab from behind, the player relayed a sarcastic message on social networks, accompanied by a screenshot of the gesture of the Stéphanese defender.
A supporter arrested for violence
The day was also marked by the arrest of a man following the launch of a play on the referee’s skull during the game. This supporter, not associated with a group of supporters, is currently in custody and is under investigation for “violence in a sports arena”. The Stéphanois management announced that it would file a complaint and that it would take steps to prohibit the author of the act from entering the market.
OL targets podium, despite defeat
The Olympique Lyonnais, despite this defeat, continues its ambitions. The club participated in the Tournoi de Montaigu, a U16 club competition, and aimed at a result at least as good as its performances in previous years (finalist in 2023, third in 2024). The team, led by Amaury Barlet, was fighting his semi-final against Lens, but was defeated by a hard hit by Ilyes Grinia.
OL finally finished fourth in the tournament, with the participation of several U15 players and without certain executives such as Adil Hamdani and Kenan Doganay, who competed in the final with France U17. Adam Alioui won the CAN U17 with Morocco.
