Chelsea lends three players to the Racing Club in Strasbourg

Recently, it had been confirmed that goaltender Mike Penders and the offensive Kendry Paez would be loaned to the Racing Club in Strasbourg. Information from the English press now indicates that the third player transferred by Chelsea would be central defender Aaron Anselmino. Discussions between Chelsea and the Racing Club in Strasbourg continue on the loan of three players from the English club to the Alsatian club. Chelsea was waiting for the end of the World Cup of Clubs, won brilliantly 3-0 against the PSG, to advance in the negotiations and define the precise identity of the players concerned.

The two players already confirmed to join the Racing are Belgian Mike Penders, a promising 19-year-old goaltender but who has not yet played for Chelsea after being loaned to Genk last season (21 games of Jupiler Pro League), and the offensive environment Kendry Paez, whose transfer was announced for several months and who already trained at Racing Soprema Parc in April. According to The Athletic website, Aaron Anselmino, a 20-year-old Argentine central defender, should also be loaned for next season. It is important to note that a round trip Chelsea – Boca Juniors was planned for the latter.

Aaron Anselmino joined Chelsea in August 2024 from Boca Juniors for 16.5 million euros, before being loaned to his initial club in the first part of last season. After returning to London in January, he had only one appearance with the first team (3 minutes against Benfica in the Club World Cup). An injury to the ischio took him away from the grounds for almost three months. This loan operation could be the last opportunity for Chelsea to lend players to Racing, except through definitive transfers, as was the case for Mathis Amougou and potentially Ishé Samuels-Smith.
