In a recent interview with Radio Goal, Giuseppe Iachini, former coach of Sassuolo during the training of Giacomo Raspadori, commented on the interest of the Olympique de Marseille for the Neapolitan attacker. Although he understands the attraction of OM, Iachini insists that Naples should carefully consider the sale of Raspadori, stressing its importance for the team, especially with the heavy calendar of the Champions League. He believes that Naples needs a strong workforce to effectively manage the five replacements allowed in European competitions and that Raspadori could remain in rotation, playing a key role in multiple matches.
Giacomo Raspadori’s career since his arrival in Naples in 2022 has been marked by contrasting seasons. Initially, he established himself as a valuable player, contributing in particular to the victory of the Scudetto in 2023. However, the 2023-2024 season was more difficult, despite an increased playing time. Although he played 26 games in Serie A, his role has often been more in decline, far from his favourite position. Its effectiveness in front of the goal remains uneven, but its playing intelligence and versatility are appreciated. Naples would demand EUR 40 million for Raspadori, an amount considered high by OM, which could complicate the operation.
At the same time, Chancel Mbemba, released from his contract with the Olympique de Marseille, could join Qatar SC. The Qatari club has proposed a two-year contract with an annual salary of 1 million euros, an offer considered modest compared to its previous salary in Marseille. Despite a season without playing OM, Mbemba maintained its activity with the national team of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He has not yet responded to Qatar SC’s offer, hoping for more attractive proposals in sport and finance. This situation illustrates the difficulties encountered by the players released after a period of inactivity, and Mbemba could be forced to review its ambitions if Qatar SC’s offer is the only concrete perspective.
