Tagliafico extends in Lyon and OL secures a major partnership

Nicolas Tagliafico, the Argentine international, should extend his contract with Olympique Lyonnais for two years, with an option for an additional year. This decision, confirmed by L’Equipe, represents a major boost for the club, which had initially lost the player at the end of its contract on June 30. Despite more lucrative offers abroad, Tagliafico favoured a return to Lyon, partly thanks to the involvement of the recruitment unit and the technical staff. This extension is seen as an important reinforcement for the team, especially after the departures of several key players, and Tagliafico is expected as an experienced leader.

In parallel with this news, Olympique Lyonnais has secured a naming partnership with Groupama extended until 2030, an unparalleled duration in France. This contract, which generates 6.9 million euros per year, is a considerable financial asset for the club. This extension comes in a context of economic and sporting recovery, under the leadership of the new President Michele Kang and her team.

Michele Kang’s arrival in the OL presidency, which was formalized on 30 June, marks a major turning point for the club. This businesswoman, who also owns OL Lyonnais, took over the men’s club with the aim of stabilizing her finances and relaunching her sports project. She was supported by Michael Gerlinger, appointed Director General, and worked to redress the situation after periods of administrative turbulence. These changes are part of a desire to modernize and consolidate the future of Olympique Lyonnais.
