Olympique Lyonnais (OL) and AS Dakar Sacré-Coeur announced the end of their ten-year partnership, which began in 2015 and was renewed in December 2023, but will not be completed until June 2025. This collaboration, focused on the training and development of players, allowed eight young talents of the Senegalese club to join OL teams. Among them, Moussa Kanté, currently in Ararat Yerevan, Ibrahima Fall and Fallou Fall, still at OL, as well as Pierre-Antoine Dorival, who hopes to join the first team. In spite of this success, none of these players have yet entered the first team, demonstrating the challenges of the transition from reserve team development to high-level competition.
The 2024-2025 season was marked by successes and disappointments for OL women. The team won its 18th French champion title by winning against Paris Saint-Germain in the final, but also eliminated in the Coupe de France and the Champions League. These results led the Lyon management to replace coach Joe Montemurro with Jonatan Girard. At the same time, the French Football Federation has formalized a five-year partnership between the Arkema Première Ligue and Betclic, a leader in online sports betting, thus strengthening the attractiveness and visibility of the French women’s football championship.
Jean-Michel Aulas, President of the Women’s League of Professional Football (LFFP), welcomed this new partnership, highlighting the considerable growth of the First League Arkema and the growing commitment of economic partners. He affirmed the FFF’s ambition to make this league one of the best championships in the world, thanks to the support of such companies. This partnership with Betclic, which is part of the continuation of the renewal of the Naming Partnership with Arkema, reflects the growing enthusiasm for women’s football in France and validates the FFF’s commitment to develop it.
