Future of the uncertain OL summer preparation in progress

Olympique Lyonnais is looking forward to the decision of the DNCG Appeal Board, scheduled for Thursday 10 July, which will determine the future of the club in Ligue 1 or Ligue 2. Despite this continuing uncertainty, the club is already organizing for the summer preparation of its players. On Monday, July 7, the team will resume training in Dรฉcines under the direction of Paulo Fonseca, who will have to deal with an uncertain team composition for the coming season. The preparation will begin with two weeks of intensive training, followed by a series of five friendly games, whose first dates and opponents are already known.

The friendly match schedule includes a match against FC Villefranche Beaujolais on July 19, followed by a match against the Dariing Brussels on July 23. These two meetings will serve as a preparation for a cohesion workshop in Austria, from 27 July to 2 August, where two more friendly games are planned. A final friendly match is also planned at the end of the summer preparation, before the start of the official competition. It is important to note that this schedule is still tentative and could be modified to reflect the decision of the DNCG.

Among the players who will join the training, Thiago Almada benefits from a holiday extension after a prolonged rest period. According to the information, the Argentinean should stay with OL in the short term, provided that the club does not fail to pay. He was initially missing from the call, but is now expected to join the group. The presence of 29 players is confirmed for the start of the preparation, which demonstrates the club’s willingness to prepare for the upcoming season, despite the current administrative challenges.
