The Olympique de Marseille chose to retire to Rome this week to prepare for the end of its season in the best conditions. A decision that is controversial and not everyone’s taste. France Football journalist Nabil Djellit expressed his scepticism about the usefulness of such a move, which he considered disproportionate. On the tone of irony, he compared this initiative to an episode of reality TV, evoking an OM “between Dubai, Miami and now Rome”, while the club remains in the run for a European place in League 1. According to him, this choice reflects an overjoyed management of the situation, like a team in crisis, which does not correspond to the reality of the ranking. Djellit also wondered about the climate around the club and particularly the attitude of coach Roberto De Zerbi, whom he considered too tense. He believes that the Italian technician dramatizes the situation while OM, despite irregular results, remains in the race for a European qualification. According to the journalist, this type of greening could add unnecessary pressure to the staff before important deadlines, such as Brest’s reception. He questioned the effectiveness of these internships abroad, saying that “if it was enough to go green to win, it would be clear.” OM will try to validate on the ground the benefits of this Roman stay, with in line a place in the European Cup.
