Sporting CP-A financial trick to catch Davitashvili-

The Sporting CP is exploring an unusual financial strategy to recruit Zuriko Davitashvili, the Georgian offensive community of ASSE. The Lisbon club plans to negotiate the international price with a financial contribution. This approach, described as strategic and surprising, is based on a debt that ASSE owes to Sporting following an agreement to divest Chico Lamba. The Sporting retained 50% of the economic rights of this young central defender, which means that ASSE had to pay half of the selling price to its former training club.

The Sporting plan is to waive this payment from 3 to 4 million euros to reduce the total cost of the Davitashvili recruit. This is an indirect, uncommon but legal compensation mechanism that would allow Sporting to pay this recruit without an immediate payment of the full price. This could be beneficial for both clubs: Sporting acquires a promising player without weighing heavily on its cash flow, while ASSE could accept a slightly lower offer than its initial expectations by extinguishing a significant debt.

This strategy is part of the Sporting CP’s policy of valuing young offensive talents, as demonstrated by the successes of players such as Pedro Gonçalo, Trincão and Marcus Edwards. Davitashvili, on the other hand, could be seduced by the prospect of playing in the Champions League and flourishing in a recognized championship. Although ASSE does not necessarily wish to separate itself from its player, a concrete and creative offer could encourage the Stéphanois leaders to reconsider their position, provided that the club’s economic interests are preserved.
