OM strengthens for a major attack

The Olympique de Marseille is intensifying its efforts on the transfer market for the summer, building a new offensive dynamic around young talents like Mason Greenwood and Amine Gouiri. The club is preparing to welcome two weight reinforcements: Pierre-Emérik Aubameyang and Igor Paixão. The arrival of Aubameyang, at 36, is imminent, promising to bring his experience, speed and sense of purpose to an attack in the midst of reconstruction. His experience, acquired from Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, is seen as a major asset to complement the Gouiri-Greenwood duo and maintain a constant threat to opposing defences.

At the same time, Igor Paixão, a 25-year-old Brazilian left winger, is about to engage with OM from the Feyenoord Rotterdam. His previous season in Eredivisie, marked by 16 goals and 14 assists, impressed the Marseilles leadership thanks to its explosiveness and ability to create shifts. An agreement between the two clubs would be imminent, with an estimated transfer of 35 million euros. In addition, Jonathan Rowe, a young English winger recruited last summer, is expected to play a lining role for Peaceão, while offering tactical flexibility on the wings.

OM does not seem to want to stop there and is also studying the case of Timothy Weah, currently in the Juventus, in search of playing time. Its versatility, allowing it to evolve on both wings and even sideways, interests the staff of Roberto De Zerbi, who wants to diversify offensive profiles to boost his game system. These reinforcements clearly demonstrate OM’s ambitions: to return to the tops of the league 1 classification and to be competitive in the European Cup. The Marseille Mercato is therefore in full swing, gradually shaping the future of the attack.
