OL: The crisis after elimination

OL misses its semifinal chance and plunges into crisis

Just a week ago, Olympique Lyonnais (OL) was on the verge of a new semi-final in Ligue Europa. Unfortunately for the Lyons, their dream has gone away and the club has moved from a fantastic dynamic to a mini-crisis since this English appointment. Between the elimination against Manchester United and the defeat at Saint-ร‰tienne last Sunday, Alexandre Lacazette’s team-mates missed the two crucial dates of the end of the season.

Today eliminated in Europe and now sixth in Ligue 1, OL has no choice over the remaining four championship games. It will certainly take a failure to see the Champions League on the Rhodanian calendar schedule next season. This is essentially the message sent by the Lyon supporters on Thursday in front of the OL training centre. Two days away from Rennes reception at OL Park, Paulo Fonseca and his players were given a rather special welcome with a banner in front of the GOLTC entrance with the following inscription: “from pride to shame, four games for the podium”. The message passed, to see if it will be heard in this final sprint.

This Saturday evening (26/04, 21:05), Olympique Lyonnais receives Stade Rennais in Parc OL on behalf of the 31st day of Ligue 1. The coming to the stadium may be more complex than usual for OL supporters. Indeed, no trams will travel in the direction of the decinoise enclosure before and after the meeting. This is due to work related to the creation of the new T6 and T9 lines. Thus, tram shuttles from Part-Dieu Villette Sud, Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie and Meyzieu Les Panettes will not circulate. To compensate for the absence of trams, buses will allow all spectators to travel to Parc OL. The first shuttle from the Panettes is scheduled to depart at 6 p.m., as well as in Silk. However, it will take 6.30 p.m. to see the first bus leaving from Eurexpo. At the end of the meeting, the last departure of all bus shuttles is set at 11:50 p.m. In case of departure from Lyon city centre, it is advisable to use metro D to Grange Blanche station. Before taking the T5 towards Eurexpo. It is on arrival in Eurexpo that it will be possible to take a bus shuttle which will take the spectators to Parc OL in 15 minutes. However, bus waiting times may be higher than usual due to traffic and work.
