VAR: Textor apologizes and acknowledges the error

Following the derby between ASSE and OL (2-1), marked by a controversy over the red card initially inflicted on Lucas Stassin, new elements broke out in the light. John Textor, owner of OL, first expressed his dissatisfaction with the arbitration, particularly with the incident.

As a result, John Textor revealed that Adjudicator François Letexier had apologized to him and acknowledged that he had made a mistake by removing the red card from Lucas Stassin. The arbitrator initially excluded the Stéphanois attacker after a fault on Corentin Tolisso, but the VAR finally set aside that decision.

Lucas Stassin, the Stéphanois attacker who wrote a double, expressed his surprise at the arbitrator’s initial intervention. He pointed out that he thought the arbitrator would maintain the decision to put a simple yellow. He also stated that his gesture was not intentional and that he simply protected the ball with his ankles.

John Textor expressed his shock at what he considers to be a manifest error of the referee, and pointed out that the video idle clearly demonstrated the intentional nature of the gesture. He also recalled that OL is the victim of several VAR errors this season. He concluded by asking for explanations and expressing his desire for better management of arbitration.
