Asse prepares for her return to Ligue 2, and Eirik Horneland, the coach, recently detailed the issues and preparations of the club at a press conference. He points out that the club is in the midst of structuring, both in terms of team and general organization, with a lot of work to do. The decision to resume training early this season was motivated by the desire to bring the team together as soon as possible after the difficulties encountered the previous season, in order to gain physical and tactical cohesion. Horneland insists on the importance of getting up and regaining his place in League 2, while recognizing that the simple name of ASSE will not guarantee victory. He stressed the support of management and supporters, but stressed the need for a constant effort.
A major overhaul of the workforce took place during the interseason, and the team is building itself step by step. Horneland points out that it will take time for players to learn to play together, especially due to the varying team compositions during the pre-season. He hopes that the team will reach its full potential from September-October, aiming to take as many points as possible by then. The arrival of new members to the staff, with extensive experience and a thorough knowledge of the environment, is a real plus. The aim is to make the best use of their skills in all areas, from performance to medical, physical and mental preparation, in order to guarantee the club’s future success.
With regard to the new recruits, Horneland particularly welcomed the arrival of Chico Lamba, a League 1 level defender with significant experience in Portugal’s national team. He is described as a talented player and an excellent signature for the club’s future. The integration of Joshua Duffus is underway, and the coach expresses his enthusiasm at the idea of seeing him available, after seeing his progress during the trainings. Ebenezer Annan and Joรฃo Ferreira, also recently arrived, are considered ready for the season, although Joรฃo needs more time to regain his rhythm. The main objective is now to effectively integrate these new players and to have all the club’s services work together to achieve the goals set.
