Last Sunday, during the LOSC’s victory over AJ Auxerre (3-1), Bafodé Diakité was sanctioned with a yellow card by Thomas Léonard for a useless gesture. This sanction came in addition to its two previous yellow cards accumulated in less than ten games, which resulted in an official suspension for the Lille central defender at the reception of the Olympique de Marseille on May 4.
Despite the victory against Auxerre, the LOSC was somewhat frustrated by this sanction, as Bafodé Diakité is one of the most used players by Bruno Genesio this season. The Disciplinary Commission of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has therefore logically decided to suspend the player for this important match against Marseille.
In another news, during the meeting between AS Saint-Étienne and Olympique Lyonnais on 20 April 2025, the Stéphanois supporters were punished for their disrespectful behaviour. They used pyrotechnic devices, threw objects at officials and interrupted the meeting. As a result of these incidents, the LFP Discipline Commission decided to sanction supporters with three firm suspension games for AS Saint-Étienne.
